I love Saturday morning...

It's Saturday morning...finally! This is the first time all week that I have felt relaxed and I am enjoying it so much. I'm sitting at my computer. I am drinking coffee from my favorite polka dotted coffee cup.

I am updating my blog and enjoying the view from the window. It's sort of grey and windy and cold out there...but here in my little corner of our office it's cozy and warm.

Agnes, one of my two favorite cats, is relaxing in Vern's chair while I type and drink coffee. Life is good this morning. I am simply soaking up the feeling of being blessed and relaxed!

In just a few minutes the day will begin and I will be going over to my parents' house to spend the day with my family. There will be an Easter egg hunt and a meal of tacos...an intersting choice for the easter celebration, I thought! It's going to be wonderful to spend the day with so many of the people I love...but right now I could stay here in my quiet, cozy office forever!

Switching gears. Vern and I were at Costco the other day and I saw these dishes. Oh my goodness!!! My absolute favorite pattern in the whole world is polka dots...not little, itty bitty, wimpy polka dots but big, fun, playful polka dots! I love, love, love polka dots! And...my most very favorite color combination in the entire universe is black and white! Look at these dishes!!! They are PERFECT for me! I must have these!!! Now, it's not a whole set of dishes...it's the coffee cups, the dessert plates and those adorable bowls...4 place settings. I soooo need these dishes. I turned to Vern and said, "You need to get me these for my birthday!" Now, knowing my knight in somewhat rusty armor, he wasn't listening, and when my birthday comes (it's on the 24th of this month) it will be a complete surprise to him that I even have a birthday! It's not like it happens at the same time every year or anything...So...I don't have any expectation that this year will be different and there will actually be a gift that doesn't come from the local grocery store and can be grabbed at the last moment when he realizes once again that I have a birthday! I don't plan on being mad or upset or hurt...that's just the way he is. But...I do have a plan.... Like I said, I MUST HAVE those dishes! I posted them on Facebook for the rest of my family to see and know that I want them. But I also don't have much of an expectation that they will get them for me either.... And I need two sets. I want to use them this winter when I host a table at the womens' tea at my church. So...here's the plan. I am going to get the money out of savings and buy them myself. I am going to put them away and wait. Then if by some chance my loved ones decide to actually get me a gift and get me what I have asked for...I will take my two sets back. So...there's the plan. Hey...a girl has to do what she has to do...ya know!?

Ok...yesterday's menu.

Breakfast was oatmeal and apples, with Smart balance spread on it.

Lunch was a sandwich and a sliced apple with PB2 to dip it in. I adore apples and
PB2!

Dinner was a grilled chicken breast, butternut squash with carmelized onions, and a bowl of collard greens.

My after dinner snack was a bowl of fruit...oranges, banana, strawberries and blueberries, topped with a little bit of fat free vanilla yogurt.

My day ended up being exactly my target of 23 points.
I have 26 weekly points remaining and 3 activity points. They will serve me well for the celebration at my folks house!

I think your idea is a great one... I don't know about Costco but at BJs (similar club) sometimes they don't keep things forever... so you need to get when you see. You COULD just tell Vern (after you wrap it up) that "here, this is the gift you got for me... for my birthday, remember it's Friday. And yes, you also made reservations at my fav restaurant for that night. Thank you my love." Think that would work? Yea, sometimes you have to train them... lol
