TGIF!!!.....

I am so happy that it's Friday! It's been a stressful couple of weeks for me at work. I've felt, and still feel, like I'm never going to catch up! I hate that feeling. I think I might be slowly getting caught up on the backlog of work that keeps piling up for me to do but I haven't shaken that feeling that comes with being so far behind. So, while I always love Fridays and anticipating the weekend, THIS Friday I am even more relieved that the week is almost over!

There are so many things on my mind and heart that I want to find the time to come here and blog but time keeps slipping away from me. I think I need to learn to be a better manager of my time. So anyway...here I am, it's Friday...and then the weekend!

I'm not sure what my son, Chris, Autumn's Daddy, has in store for the weekend. If he doesn't need me to take Miss Autumn for the day I plan to spend Saturday at home. I'd love to catch up on housework and other projects around here!

So, as long as I'm sharing my life here on this blog, I thought I'd invite you into my "office." Our "office" isn't really an office at all. It's a spare bedroom, computer room, Vern's room to display his collectibles. Here is where I sit every morning and drink coffee, stalk the blogs, enjoy the sunrise, have my quiet time, and ready myself for the day. I probably spend more time here than in any other room of our house. (maybe that's a clue as to why I am so far behind on everything!)

This is my computer that my boss gave me. He showed up on my doorstep one day after work, computer in hand, and thanked me for being a good and faithful employee! It's great to work for a good man who walks with the Lord!

Ok..now for yesterday's menu. I had pumpkin oatmeal for breakfast. I've had this a few times now and each time, when I take that first bite, I am pleasantly surprised by how good it is ! One half cup of oats cooked in one cup of water, one half cup of canned pumpkin, and a tablespoon of Smart Balance Light Buttery Spread. 4 points for the oatmeal, 1 point for the Sugar Free Hazelnut Creamer in my 2 cups of coffee. Total morning points: 5

Lunch was a sandwich made with shaved turkey breast, a slice of fat free cheese, lettuce, and mustard on Sarah Lee Light Bread. I had baby carrots and an apple sprinkled with cinnamon with my sandwich for a total of 5 points.

Dnner was chicken breasts, grilled on the Forman style grill, cauliflower and cheese, and a salad. I say salad, but it was actually a pile of lettuce because I am out of good salad fixings! I used a balsamic salad spritzer on my salad and sprinkled it with a teaspoonful of parmesan/romano cheese blend. I almost forgot to take a photo so my chicken is half eaten in this photo! This was an ok meal but nothing to write home about.

After dinner the snacking starts. I have been thinking about this habit I have of snacking at night. I am well within my points allowance for each day and I am losing weight, slowly and steadily...but I am still wondering about this snacking business. Is it acceptable for me to arrange my points each day to allow for this snackfest in the evening? Or am I just working the system to allow myself to continue my love affair with food? If I am working the system, (the points system) is it simply me learning to adapt my eating habits to the lifestyle I am most comfortable with and therefore a good thing? Or should I be working to eliminate the snacking in the evenings? Comments? Opinions?

My first snack was a bowl of popcorn, air popped in the microwave, sprayed with cannola oil cooking spray and sprinkled with butterscotch, sugar free, fat free pudding mix. This was better than kettlecorn! 2 points

My other snack, which I actually ate while sitting in my bed, watching "Law and Order" was a bowl of cereal. One cup of puffed kamut, one half cup of fiber one, a banana and a cup of fat free milk for 5 points. Note...I don't often snack in bed! Vern had a gig last night and I was home alone and just decided it would be fun to have my snack in bed...sort of like "breakfast in bed" in reverse!

These last two photos are my newest project. A two wheeled bike with training wheels for the princess. I snagged this little cutie for $5.00 from the pawn shop next to the shop where I work. I'm quite sure he gave me a great deal because we're neighbors and I was and am sooo thrilled with my bargain! It's dirty but overall it's in good shape and I think it's adorable. I am going to give it a good cleaning and accessorize it with lots of pink stuff. I wish you could have seen Vern's face when he was carrying it out to the car for me. He was so thrilled that I got it for $5.00...but then I started telling him about all the things I needed to accessorize it with..."streamers, she needs pink, sparkly streamers...and a basket. A white basket with pink flowers on it, and new foot pads for the pedals, and of course she'll need a new pink helmet to replace the Elmo and friends one we got when we bought her trike..." So...$5.00 bargain bike=$50.00 worth of pink accessories! Hey it's a grandma thing...LOL.

Thought I'd stop by and say HI!! I love how you "stalk the blogs" each morning! : )

I don't know much about Weight Watchers and points counting but I'll throw in my two cents. I would say if your hungry in the evening and you still have points left over for the day then by all means have your snack. BUT if your not hungry and your just eating because you have points leftover I would say skip the snack! : )

Have a great weekend!!

Love your "office"!! Mine is a tiny corner of my bedroom with a computer table and chair! LOL!

Great eats today and even though you're concerned about your snacking, at least you are choosing healthy snacks. I agree with Melissa about eating if you're hungry. I think you need to look at exactly what you are feeling at the time - if you are eating just to eat or get your POINTS in, but you're not really hungry, then you might want to rethink that. For me, my snacking is mainly done as a mindless activity. I am rarely hungry when I snack; sometimes I do it just to curb my appetite for later, so I won't overeat at a meal. Crazy, right?? This is definitely a journey, so keep on tweaking and trying new strategies to see what works best for you.

Sorry for the novel ;}

Thanks so much for the advice about the snacking. I really appreciate the input from others who are also working on developing healthy eating habits. I think you're both right on the money about not snacking if I'm not hungry. I am more hungry at night than I am during the day, but I don't think I'm always hungry when I snack.

Good advice!!! Thank you again!
